ALOY, Rabbi Irma. Rabbi of the Berea Hebrew Congregation, Johannesburg, and Secretary to the Beth Din. Born Dokszyce, Poland, 6th December, 1912, son of Avraham Moshe and Batya Aloy. Educated at Yeshivot in Wilno, Slonim, Lomza and Mir (Poland). Came to South Africa 1937. Was Minister of the Benoni Old Shul for one year and assistant Minister of the Beth Hamedrash Hagodol, Johannesburg, for 16 years. Has been Secretary of the Beth Din for the past 27 years. Honorary Jewish Chaplain to the Johannesburg Fort since 1961. Chairman of the Chassidim Hebrew Congregation, Johannesburg. Married Rocha-Leah Rivkind, 1933; two daughters.
