Deputy Mayor of Bellville, 1964-1966. Town Councillor, Bellville since 1961. Chairman, Bellville Civic Association 1958-1961; Committee member, Belville Hebrew Congregation, 1962, Northern Areas Medical Association, 1962. Foundation member, King David Country Club. Founder and First President Northern Areas Film Society. Founder and Charter President, Lions Club, Bellville. Deputy District Governor (Western Cape), Lions' International. Elected District Governor, Lions' International Dist. LI/OA, 1965; represented South Africa at Lions International Convention, Toronto, Canada, July, 1964. Elected National Chairman Lions' International, Republic of South Africa, 1965/66. Appointed International Counsellor Lions' International. Served as Gunner in 1st S.S.B. (Tank Corps) in World War II; saw service in Egypt and Italy. Former first team rugby and baseball player. Married Sybil Lipschitz, November, 1954; two daughters. Recreations: Swimming, rowing.
