ARONSON, Rabbi Mendel L. Born Rasein, Lithuania, son of Abel Aronson. Came to South Africa 1922. Educated at Yeshivot of Telz, Kelm and Slabotka, in Lithuania, and University of Cape Town. Member of the Public Accountants and Auditors of S.A. Previously Director of various companies. Sworn Appraiser in the Cape. Executive member, S.A. Mizrachi Federation; member, S.A. Zionist Federation Education Committee; member, B'nai B'rith Lodge. Was President of Green and Sea Point Hebrew Congregation, 1955-56; Chairman, Cape Mizrachi Federation, 1952-56; member, Cape Board of Jewish Education, 1940-56; member, Western Province Zionist Council for several years. Rabbinical Diploma (Smicha) received in Israel. Married Naomi, daughter of the late Rabbi M. Ch. Mirvish, 1928; one son, two daughters. Recreation: Study of Hebrew and Rabbinic literature.
