Jacob MARESKY, (Alter), Teacher by Profession, now occupied in Mining, chiefly copper and silver, in South-West Africa. The first Jew who identified himself in Base Metal Mining in that country. Well known in the mining circles there. Born in Lukha, near Mir, in 1890. Educated at Mir, Yeshivah College. Came to South Africa in April, 1908. Married in 1913 to Dora Chessen; has four children. Hon. Secretary of the G.W. Ezrath Zion Association, Kimberley; Examiner, Hebrew Classes, Kimberley; Committee Member, Baronial Street Synagogue; J.N.F. Commissioner in Kimberley and District.
