MAUERBERGER, Morris, Industrialist, employing over 1,000 people. Born in Russia in 1890, and educated there. Came to South Africa in 1905, subsequently started business in Claremont. Married in 1920 to Helen Schein; has three children. Founder of Ackerman's, Ltd., with branches throughout the Union; in 1923 formed M. Mauerberger, Ltd., buyers for the former Company; in 1924 established Bergers, Ltd.; in 1925 promoted Mauerberger's Blanket Factory at Huguenot, Cape Province; also a Shirt and Clothing Factory in Keerom Street, Cape Town.
