SCHAPIRO, Hetty (daughter of the late Bar Joffe, Krugersdorp, Transvaal). Born in Russia in 1884. Came to South Africa in infancy. Educated at Good Hope Seminary, Cape Town. Married to Abraham Schapiro in 1907; has three children. For three years on Committee Cape Jewish Board of Guardians; past four years Committee and Vice-Chair, Cape Jewish Orphanage.
