KORBF, Jacques, Diamond Manufacturer. Born in Libau in 1881. Educated at Libau and at Königsbeng. Married to Sala Rothmann. Came to South Africa in 1923. Started negotiations with the Union Government for the establishing of diamond cutting industry in South Africa; the agreement has been ratified by both Houses of Parliament on 2nd June, 1928, and the first factory erected in Kimberley on the 3rd August, 1928, under the name of the South African Diamond Cutting Organisation, and in conjunction with Rosenstrauch Bros.
