HERMAN, Julius, Teacher, B.A., M.A. (S.A.), Ph.D. (Cantab.). Born in 1894. Educated at Rhodes University College and Cambridge University. Author of "Bernard Shaw: the Man and His Work" (Allen & Unwin), published under nom-de-plume "Herbert Skimpole," and "The Music of South African Life" (Juta's), published under own name; on staff of Tarka High School, Cape Province: Hon. Secretary, Tarka Debating and Social Club, Tarka High School Debating Society, and Tarka Zionist Society; Hon. Member, Old Rhodians, and Kaapse Bond vir Maatskaplike Werk; Author of several unpublished plays which have been produced in private. Postal Address: Tarkastad, Cape Province.
