GRAUMANN, Sir Harry, K.B.E., retired, ex-M.L.A. for Johannesburg, Commissioner Street Division. Born in London. Educated in Dover. One of the pioneers of the Barberton gold fields and Old Diggers' Committee thereof; during Boer War, was Chairman of Uitlander Committee in Cape Town, and did much good work for Transvaal refugees; one of the four Aldermen of Johannesburg during the Kruger regime; ex-Chairman, Finance Committee, Johannesburg Town Council, where his handling of the town's finance was of the highest order; as Mayor of Johannesburg, received and entertained the Duke and Duchess of Connaught during their visit to South Africa in 1910 to inaugurate the Union; Sir Harry is a generous subscriber to all public and Jewish communal objects.
