DAINOW, David, Editor, "The Zionist Record." Born in London in 1886. Son of the late Rabbi Israel Dainow of London, Educated at Public County Council School. At age of 19, went to Canada and later to the United States of America, in which countries he was engaged in journalism and Jewish social work; occupied post of Director of Baron de Hirsch Institute of Montreal; was later Editor of the "Canadian Jewish Times"; returned to England and engaged himself in journalistic work, at the same time doing active work for Zionism; in 1920, went to Poland as the only English officer of American Joint Distribution Committee; in 1921, came to South Africa to occupy the post of Director of the Cape Jewish Orphanage; a year later accepted the position of Secretary of the Keren Hayesod for South Africa, and was later appointed to present position.
