FRAM, Daniel Isaac, Merchant and Manufacturer. Senior Partner of the firm of D. I. Fram & Co., Ltd., established in Johannesburg in 1903. The largest and leading firm in this industry in South Africa, and also the first firm to establish in the Union of South Africa spinning and weaving cotton, flax and jute, textile fabrics and cloth. Chairman Fram's Properties, Ltd., holders of valuable central of property in Johannesburg.
Born in Ponevez in 1871. Educated at Gymnasium, Ponevez. Married in 1894 to Ethel Bainstein; has seven children. Came to South Africa in 1895. Committee Member, Hebrew High School; Chairman and Treasurer for number of years, and also Founder of Ponevez Sick Benefit Society; Director of South African Palestine Enterprise (Binyan) Co., Ltd.; ex-Warden of Yeoville Synagogue; held various offices in Masonry; Ardent Zionist Supporter.
