Educated at Jewish Government School, Commercial High School, University of the Witwatersrand and Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh). Director of Cohen Bros. (Furn.) Ltd. Chief Surgeon in charge of all Paediatric Surgical Services, Johannesburg Group of Teaching Hospitals; Senior Surgeon, Johannesburg General Hospital, Lecturer in Clinical Surgery at University of the Witwatersrand. Member of Federal Council and Southern Transvaal Branch of the Medical Association. Past President of the S.Tvl. Branch of the Medical Association (1958). Awarded Bronze Medal of Medical Association. Member, United Hebrew Congregation, Johannesburg, S.A. Jewish Orphanage (on which he is an Hon. Surgeon) and Witwatersrand Jewish Aged Home. Member of Houghton Golf Club, Transvaal Automobile Club, Killarney Golf Club, Wanderers Club. During World War II served with S. A. Forces, rank Major; mentioned in dispatches.
