WOOLF, Ephraim Benjamin, Medical Practitioner, M.R.C.S. (England), L.R.C.P. (London). Born in New York in 1893. Came to South Africa in 1898. Educated at Diocesan College, Capetown, and at London Hospital. Hon. Medical Officer in charge Massage and Electrical Department, General Hospital, Johannesburg; ex-House Physician and Emergency Officer, London Hospital; Captain, S.A.M.C.; Medical Officer in charge Massage and Electrical Departments and Neurological Sections No. 3 and No. 4 Military Hospitals (Durban and Roberts Heights); at present Hon. Secretary, Hospital Medical Committee; Chairman of Junior South African Party: Chairman, House Committee, S.A.P. Club. Postal Address: 15/17 Clonmel Chambers, Johannesburg.

WOOLF, Senator Ephraim Benjamin, M.R.C.S., 16th June, 1893, son of Charles K, and Rose Woolf. Came to South Africa about 1897. Educated at Diocesan College, Rondebosch, Cape; Johannesburg College; King Edward VII School, Johannesburg; and London University. Senator of the South African Parliament. Formerly Medical Practitioner. Was member of the Transvaal Provincial Council for Von Brandis for 28 years; member of the Executive Committee of the Transvaal Provincial Council for seven years; Senator since November, 1960. Former Vice-President for the Transvaal of the S.A. Jewish Board of Deputies. Introduced Physical Medicine to Johannesburg General Hospital, and became hon. head of this department and all its branches; established the scheme of Physiotherapy for Witwatersrand University, and became senior lecturer in charge thereof; later established the scheme for Occupational Therapy; member of the Board of the Faculty of Medicine as lecturer in Physiotherapy; on resigning in 1948, appointed Hon. Consultant Physician in Physical Medicine to Johannesburg General Hospital. Has served as chairman of several hospital boards and special committees. Director of Companies. President, S.A. Society of Specialists in Physical Medicine; Vice-President, S.A. Society of Physiotherapists; S.A. representative, International Society of Medical Hydrology; member, Board of Trustees, S.A. National War Museum. Served in First World War in East Africa, as Captain in the S.A.M.C.; served in Second World War as Lt.Col., S.A.M.C., and Adviser in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation to the U.D.F.; served in South Africa, Egypt and Italy. Member, Aero Club of South Africa, Tara Bowling Club, Wanderers Club and Parliamentary Angling Club. Married Doreen Witten, 1953. Recreations: Bowls and fishing.
