ZYGIELBAUM, Reuven. Merchant and former actor. Born Krasnystav, Poland, 30th
January, 1913, son of Joseph and Henna Zygielbaum, Educated in Poland and
studied stage at Yiddish Theatre School, Warsaw. Came to South Africa in 1953.
Manager of P. Blum & Co. (Pty.) Ltd. Previously professional actor in
Yiddish Theatre in Poland and broadcasting in Israel. Contributor to various
journals. Executive member of the Yiddish Cultural Federation; member of Editorial
Board, "Dorem Afrika"; member of Presidium, Yiddish Theatre
Association. Served with the Israel Army during the War of Independence.
Married Julia Blum (Zichok), 1963. One daughter and one son by previous
