Educated at Johannesburg Jewish Government School, King Edward VII High School and School of Mines. Was a teacher from 1920-22. Served in National Volunteer Brigade during World War II. Member, Balfour Park Club, Old Edwardians, Reading Country Club and Keurboom Sports Club. Married Ethel Bass, 1929; two daughters. Add.: 55, Vannin Court, Petersen Street, P.O.
