SCHLAPOBERSKY, Harry, Oil Merchant. Born in Keidany, Lithu-ania, in 1886. Married in 1912 to Janie Gertrude Rabinowitz; has four children. Came to South Africa in 1913. Has been sales agent for one of the American Oil Companies in Johannesburg, and now proprietor of the Pacific Oil Company, Johannesburg.

SCHLAPO BERSKY, Harry. Died 1964. Director of Companies. Born Keidan, Lithuania, 1886, son of Idel and Chasa Riva Schlapobersky. Educated in Lithuania. Came to South Africa 1901. Was founder and Managing Director of Pacific Oil Co. (Pty.) Ltd. Was a well-known communal worker and served as Deputy for 50 years on the S.A. Jewish Board of Deputies; a presentation was made to him by the Board in recognition of his long service. Was Hon. Life President, Jeppestown Hebrew Congregation; Life President, Keidaner Helping Hand Benevolent Society; member of the Governing Committee, Jewish Helping Hand and Burial Society; Trustee of the United Talmud Torah Societies, 1927-29. Married Janie Gertrude Rabinowitz, 1912; three sons, two daughters. His address was 50 Regent Street, Yeoville, Johannesburg.
