SHABAN, Abel. Director of Companies. Born Krakinowo, Lithuania, 15th June, 1908, son of Chayim and Rikle Shaban. Educated at Cheder Yeshiva and Hebrew Gymnasium in Ponevez, Lithuania. Came to South Africa 1927. Was founder, Chairman and Managing Director of the Alpha Group of Companies. Hon. Life member, S.A. Society of Journalists. President, S.A. Ort-Oze; Hon. Life President, World Union OSE; Vice- President, World ORT Union. Former Chairman, United Communal Fund, Jewish Museum Committee and Jewish Monument Committee. Former Executive member, S.A.
