SEWITZ, Morris. B.Com. (Rand). A.C.I.S. (Lond.). Labour and
Employment Consultant. Born Tryskiai, Lithuania, 6th March, 1910, son of
Solomon and Basse (Batya) Sewitz. Came to South Africa 1920. Educated at
Commercial High School, S.A. Talmudical College (Beth Hamedrash Hagavoha) and
University of the Witwatersrand. Director of National Employment; previously
proprietor of Noalls-Parsens Sweet Industries. Founded the
"Hatechiya" Youth Organisation for the Advancement of Jewish Culture,
1931. Lectured in Economics and Accounting at Cambrian College. Author of a
play, "Queen Esther," produced in Johannesburg in 1934, and an
occasional contributor to the local Jewish Press. Editor-Publisher of a Journal
on Solar Eclipses, which has been used as a textbook by a number of schools.
Married Emma Heyman, 1939; two daughters. Recreations: Astronomy and Judaica.
