SHAPIRO, Hyman Ralph. Manufacturers' Representative. Born Cardiff, Wales, 3rd March, 1893, son of Samuel and Sarah Shapiro. Came to South Africa 1903, and later returned to Wales for some years. Educated at Grey High School, Port Elizabeth, and Swansea Grammar School, Wales. Foundation member, Green and Sea Point Hebrew Congregation, During World War I served in British Army with 38th Welsh Division, demobilised as Acting Battery Sergeant Major, 18 Pounder Artillery.
