SHATZ, Arie Mordechai. Director of Companies and Farmer. Born 11th August, 1892, son of Avraham Moshe and Rivkah Shatz. Came to South Africa 1913. Educated in Lithuania. Director of hotel and pharmaceutical business. Previously was a general merchant. Chairman, Vryheid Hebrew Congregation for 25 years, and now Life President. Active in communal work for 35 years, Member, Vryheid Bowling Club. Married 1922, late wife's name Sarah; two sons, one daughter. Add.: P.O. Box 195, Vryheid.
