SHEFTS, Yosef (Gerald.) Shaliach. Born Johannesburg 30th September 1931, son of Benjamin and Ethel Shefts. Educated at Athlone High School and Universities of Pretoria and Witwatersrand. Hashomer Hatzair Shaliach in South Africa. Member of Vaad Hapoel of Kibbutz Artzi (Israel) and of various Committees of Kibbutz Nachshon. Chairman, Chalutz sub-committee of S.A. Zionist Youth Council (1953); member, South African Jewish Board of Deputies' Youth Committee; member, Merakez of Hachsharah Farm (S.A. Zionist Youth Council). Served two and a half years in the Israel Army. Married 1955, wife's name Lottie; two daughters. Recreations: Reading, gardening. Has returned to Israel.
