SIMON, Alfred (Fred). Manufacturers' Representative. Born Frankfurt/Main, Germany, 19th June, 1902. Son of Albert and Sophie Simon. Educated at Woehler Real Gymnasium, Frankfurt on Main. Came to South Africa 1936 Formerly was character actor on German professional stage. Council member and Warden, North Eastern Hebrew Congregation; past President, Chaim Weizmann Lodge, Hebrew Order of David, and a committee member since 1947. Member of Grand Executive of H.O.D. for 16 years, presently Deputy Grand President (1966-68). Member Witwatersrand Jewish Aged Home, S.A. Jewish Orphanage, Society for the Jewish Handicapped, Chevra Kadisha, Gemilut Chesed, etc. Foundation member, Orchards Bowling Club. Served with N.V.B., Bloemfontein, during World War II.
