Executive member, Port Elizabeth Chamber of Commerce. Past President, Port Elizabeth Branch S.A. Jewish Ex- Servicemen's League; past Secretary, Cape Town Branch of same; past Secretary, Cape Jewish Youth Centre; President, Port Elizabeth Progressive Jewish Congregation; member of Eastern Province Committee, S.A. Jewish Board of Deputies; member of United Communal Fund and Israeli United Appeal Committees. Served with South African Forces during World War II. Married Anita Bruckmann, 1939; two daughters.
