SAPEIKA, Norman. B.A., M.D., Ph.D., F.R.S.S.Af. Professor of Pharmacology, University of Cape Town. Born Oudtshoorn 17th January, 1909, son of Raphael and Leah Sapeika. Educated at Kimberley Boys' High School and University of Cape Town, Consultant Pharmacologist to Groote Schuur Hospital. Member of the Drugs Control Council. Hon. Treasurer and member of Council, Royal Society of S.A.; Regional Council member for Red Cross Society; member of Athenaeum Trust; member of Editorial Board, "Excerpta Medica," and "European Journal of Pharmacology", Holland, and Archiv. int. Pharm., Belgium; Member of Medical Advisory Committee of the Medical Association of S.A., former member, Cape Committee of S.A. Jewish Board of Deputies. Member, Friends of Hebrew University and Israel Medical Association, Visiting Professor at Hebrew University Medical School, Jerusalem, 1956. Author of "Actions and Uses of Drugs" and numerous scientific papers, Married Simone Gusta Silverberg, 1942; two sons, one daughter. Recreation: Rambling on Table Mountain.
