LIVNI, Shlomo, L.R.C.P. (Lond.), M.R.C.S. (Eng.). Medical Practitioner. Born Vilna, Poland, 22nd July. 1904; son of David and Menuha Hinda Livni. Came to South Africa 1925. Educated at "Herzlia" Gymnasia, Tel Aviv; University of the Witwatersrand, London Hospital Medical College. Superintendent, Serenity Home for the Aged, Johannesburg. Director, Serenity Nursing Home (Pty) Ltd. Formerly Medical Officer, Jerusalem Government Hospital, 1933-1936; Distributive Surgeon, Rustenburg, 1938- 1952. Registrar, Tara Hospital for Nervous Diseases, Johannesburg. During World War II served with South African Forces Captain in S.A.M.C., 1940- 1944. Won Noristan Prize, 1961, for paper on "Alcoholism in General Practice' (S.A. Medical Journal, 1961). Member, Tara Bowling Club and Histadrut Ivrit, Johannesburg.
