LOCKETZ, Isidore. Hebrew Teacher and Bookseller. Born in Latvia 14th August, 1915, son of Rabbi Yehuda Leib and Yehudit Locketz. Came to South Africa 1936; matriculated at George, C.P.; went to Palestine, where he qualified as teacher; returned to South Africa 1945; became Principal of the Temple Emanuel Hebrew School and Temple Menorah Hebrew School; now practises as private Hebrew teacher and is director of The Young Reader (Pty.) Ltd., Hillbrow. Member, Education Committee, S.A. Zionist Federation; Executive member, Poalei Zion; member, B'nai B'rith Lodge. During World War II was civilian interpreter in Hebrew and Arabic for the British and Australian Armies stationed in Palestine. Member, Balfour Park Sports Club.
