LOCKETZ, Isidore. Hebrew Teacher and Bookseller. Born in Latvia 14th August, 1915, son of Rabbi Yehuda Leib and Yehudit Locketz. Came to South Africa 1936; matriculated at George, C.P.; went to Palestine, where he qualified as teacher; returned to South Africa 1945; became Principal of the Temple Emanuel Hebrew School and Temple Menorah Hebrew School; now practises as private Hebrew teacher and is director of The Young Reader (Pty.) Ltd., Hillbrow. Member, Education Committee, S.A. Zionist Federation; Executive member, Poalei Zion; member, B'nai B'rith Lodge. During World War II was civilian interpreter in Hebrew and Arabic for the British and Australian Armies stationed in Palestine. Member, Balfour Park Sports Club. Married Rachel Lubashevsky, 1942; one son, one daughter. Recreation: Tennis. Add.: 100, Pembroke Street, Sydenham, Johannesburg.
