MARCUS, Leslie. Factory Manager. Born Mirze, Poland, 28th April, 1928; son of Isaac and Sonia Marcus. Came to South Africa 1933. Educated at Wynberg Boys' High School. Member of Zionist Revisionist Organisation and a Freemason. Served in Israeli War of Independence, 1948, in 89th Commando Unit under Moshe Dayan. Later became an official instructor in the Israel Army under Yitzhak Sadeh, and took officer's course. His exploits and those of Command Unit 89 related in the book, "Im Ha Commando Ba Negev". Married Paula Gamburg, 24th September, 1950; one son. Recreations: Outdoor sports. Football and physical training instructor and coach for a local W.P.F.A. team.
