MARKOVITZ, Jack Otto. Real Estate Consultant. Born Minsk, Russia, 14th December, 1898, son of Mordecai and Zipporah Markovitz. Educated at Bayswater Jewish School, London, and University of Cape Town. Came to South Africa 1915. Real estate negotiator, business and management consultant. Managing Director of J. O. Markovitz & Son (Pty.) Ltd., J. O. Markovitz & Son Trust Co. (Pty.) Ltd., Markovitz Associates (Pty) Ltd., First Jackomar Investment Trust Company (Pty) Ltd., and Pierpont Morgen Investment Co. (Pty.) Ltd. Previously was Merchandising Director of large group of department stores. Former Chairman of Cape Town Zionist Society. Served for many years as member of Western Province Zionist Council. Was President of First Palestine Industrial Exhibition held in Cape Town. Member, Economic Society of South Africa; member, National Liberal Club, London. Recreation: Travel, reading, study of human relations. Married Leona Chermack, 1929; four sons.
