MARX, Kurt. Interior Decorator. Born Germany, 4th June,
1909; son of S. and H. Marx. Educated in Germany at Technical College. Came to
South Africa in 1936. Managing Director of French Curtain House (Pty) Ltd., and
proprietor of K. Marx Curtain Specialists. Previously was buyer of curtains and
carpets in a large departmental store in Germany. Council member for past 14
years in Hebrew Order of David and representative on the S.A. Jewish Board of
Deputies. Past Council member of North Eastern Hebrew Congregation. During
World War II was member of National Volunteer Brigade and Police Reserve.
Member, Balfour Park Club. Recreations: bowls, swimming. Married Esther Possel,
1937; one son, one daughter. Add.: 204 Headingly, Corlett Drive, Illovo,
Johannesburg.
