MINCER, Jack. Director of Companies. Born Poland 20th August, 1896, son of Samuel and Brucha Mincer. Came to South Africa 1919. Chairman and Managing Director of the Saker's Finance & Investment Corporation Ltd., group. Member of Johannesburg City Council for many years. Mayor of Johannesburg 1949-1950. Has been Chairman of Town Planning. Parks and Estates and Traffic Committees of the City Council; Vice-Chairman of the Finance and General Purposes Committees; member of Public Health, Library, and Water and Gas Committees. Municipality named the Jack Mincer Parking Garage, below Union Grounds, in his honour. Council member, South African Foundation. Former Executive member, S.A. Jewish Board of Deputies. During World War II was Chairman of the Troops Tobacco Fund and Vice-Chairman of the Gifts and Comforts Fund. Member of Killarney Club. Married Fanny Fleishman, 1923; one son, one daughter.
