Pincus, Alec


PINCUS, Alec. Born Krugersdorp 6th October, 1909, son of Meyer Jacob and Sarah Pincus. Educated at Boys' High School, Beaufort West. Former Executive Director of Plywoods Ltd. and its various subsidiaries. Previously practised Law as Attorney and Notary Public at Piquetberg, Cape Province, 1934. 1938. Past Hon. Secretary, Rondebosch Hebrew Congregation; Past Vice-President, Western Province Maccabi Association; served on committee of Rondebosch Hebrew Congregation from 1946 to 1963. Actively assisted Magen David Adom for several years. Served with South African Forces in World War II in East Africa and Abyssinia, rising through the ranks to Lieutenant. Foundation member, Clovelly Country Club. One of the founders of King David Country Club, Cape Town, of which he was Chairman in 1958 and 1959. Recreations: Tennis (First League) and golf. Married Freda Lilian Berold 1943; two sons, two daughters. Has now settled in Israel.
