PODLASHUC, Charles. Attorney. Born Shavli, Lithuania, 7th July, 1885. Came to South Africa 1900. Educated in the Ukraine (Cheder), Cape Town (Hebrew Public School and S.A.C.S.), Pretoria (Transvaal University College). Member, Pretoria City School Board. 1924-49. Past Chairman, Pretoria Zionist Association, Pretoria Ozrei Zion, Miriam Marks Talmud Torah Board, Pretoria Hebrew Congregation, Otto Warburg Lodge (Hebrew Order of David), Pretoria Jewish Community Council; Connaught Lodge of Freemasons; R.A. Chapter, and Pretoria Horticultural Society (20 years), National War Memorial Health Foundation (Northern Transvaal). During World War I served on Pretoria V.C.T.A. (and Executive Committee), and saw service in German East Africa. During World War II was a member of the National Volunteer Brigade, Pretoria (and Executive Committee).
