PRISSMAN, Joseph. Born Kruttingen, Retired. Born Lithuania,
July 1889; son of Ephraima and Ida Prissman. Educated at Gymnasium in Riga, Latvia.
Came to South Africa 1912. Previously was manufacturer of millinery and ladies'
dress wear. Member of Oxford Hebrew Congregation, Histadrut Ivrith, S.A. Jewish
Orphanage, Witwatersrand Jewish Aged Home, etc. in 1914 was Hon. Secretary of
the Hebrew High School, Johannesburg; also served as Secretary of the
Johannesburg Zionist Club and was founder of the first local Hebrew-speaking
society. Married Rebecca Idelson, 5th November, 1916; one son, one daughter.
