READING, Moses (Moshe). Accountant. Born Stolbcy, White Russia, 27th February, 1891, son of Elijah and Sara Reading. Educated in White Russia and Poland (Mirer Yeshiva; Commercial School, Warsaw). Practised as an accountant in Warsaw. Came to South Africa 1929. Retired secretary, New Hebrew Congregation. Hon. secretary, Mizrachi Histadruth, 1935-40; Member of Tifereth Israel Synagogue, Cape Town, where he has delivered weekly discourses on the Parsha of the week since 1952.
