Educated at Yavne High School for Girls in Telz, Lithuania, and the University of the Witwatersrand. Head of the Hebrew Department, King David High School, Victory Park, Johannesburg. Taught in her early youth at "Arcadia". Formerly Headmistress Cyrildene-Observatory Extn. Hebrew School for seven years, and was senior Hebrew teacher at King David High School, Linksfield for ten years. One of the first leaders of the Habonim movement. Executive member, Histadruth Ivrith, executive member, S.A. Hebrew Teachers' Association; member, J.N.F. Education Committee, was Cultural Convenor and Vice-Chairman of the Pretoria Women's Zionist League. Cultural Convenor, Johannesburg Women's Zionist League for seven years and member of Women's Zionist Council of South Africa for four years. Member of S.A. Board of Jewish Education, and serves on several other educational committees. Married the late Richard Laks, 10th April, 1938; one son, two daughters. Recreations: Reading, gardening.
