LAPINER, Lionel. Company Director. Born London, England, 17th November, 1920; son of Benjamin and Anne Lapiner. Came to South Africa 1921. Educated at Greys School, Port Elizabeth. Director of Cape Produce Co. (Pty.) Ltd. Member, Federated Chamber of Industries Committee, Labour and Economics Section. Chairman, S.A. Jewish Ex-Service League (P.E. Branch), 1963-64; member, Port Elizabeth Hebrew Congregation. Member, Wedgewood Country Club, Old Grey Squash Club and Buffalo Club. Served with South African Forces in World War II with rank of Captain; was the only Jewish Pathfinder attached to R.A.F. 614 Squadron operating with night bomber squadrons of S.A.A.F. and R.A.F. from Italy over Europe.
