Former President, Pretoria Hebrew Congregation; former Chairman, Pretoria Jewish Community Council; former Chairman, Jewish Ex-Servicemen's League (Pretoria Branch); National Vice-President, S.A. Jewish Ex-Servicemen's League; member, S.A. Jewish Board of Deputies (Cape Committee); Vice-President, Cape Jewish Board of Guardians. During World War I served with the Royal Engineers and was awarded the Military Cross. During World War II served with South African Engineering Corps and was awarded the M.B.E.; appointed Director of Engineers and promoted to Colonel. Member, Wingate Park Country Club.
