Born Durban 16th February, 1894, son of David Nathan and Florence Edith Henochsberg. Educated in Liverpool and Durban, the Natal University College and the Inns of Court, London. Appointed King's Counsel, 1939: Acting Judge, Natal Provincial Division, 1947, 1949, 1953, 1955. Appointed Judge, July, 1955. Retired 1964. Past President, Council of Natal Jewry; Past President and Hon. Life member, Durban United Hebrew Congregation; Past President and Hon. Vice-President, Durban Jewish Club. Hon. Vice-President, Natal Division, Scout Council and Emeritus Commissioner, S.A. Scout Headquarters. Trustee of Adams College Educational Trust and former Chairman, Adams College Board of Governors. President Durban Bantu Children Welfare Society. Served in World War I with the 1st S.A. Field Ambulance; thereafter R.G. Artillery, with commissioned rank; saw service in Egypt, France and Belgium. Served in World War II with the S.A. Forces as Judge Advocate, Natal Command, and Senior Law Adviser, Department of Defence, G.H.Q., Pretoria, with the rank of Lieut.-Colonel. Member of Durban Jewish Club, Circle Country Club, Victoria Club (Pietermaritzburg). Married René Victoria Hart, 1924; two daughters.
