HERBSTEIN, Frank Hezl, M.Sc., Ph.D. Physicist. Born Cape Town, 3rd July, 1926, son of Joseph and Bertha Herbstein. Educated at Muizenberg High School, University of Cape Town, Hebrew University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Head of Chemical Physics Group of National Physical and Chemical Research Laboratories, Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, Pretoria until 1965, when appointed Professor of Chemistry, Technicon, Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa. During Second World War served in the Special Signal Services, S.A. Corps of Signals. Served in Mahal during Israeli War of Liberation. Married Corinne Jessica Liebson, 1952; two daughters.
