KALK, Gerald. Attorney. Born Elizabethville 9th January, 1917, son of Annie and Meyer Kalk. Educated at Germiston High School. Articled and qualified in Cape Town. Director of Companies. Member of Brakpan Town Council 1957-67; Mayor 1962-63. During World War II served with the Jewish troops in the British Army; enlisted in Palestine as a private in 1940; commissioned 1941; Brigade Transport Officer at original headquarters of Jewish Infantry Brigade Group; Adjutant and Quartermaster- General of the Jewish Brigade Group, with rank of Major, until its dissolution in Belgium in 1946.
