HAYDEN, Sydney. Director of Companies. Born Goldingen, Courland, 20th January, 1881, son of Samuel and Celine Heydenreich. Came to South Africa 1897. Educated at Gymnasium, Goldingen and Ilford Grammar School, London. Director of Anglo African Trust Ltd., Tavistock Coal Mines Ltd., South Witbank Coal Mines Ltd., Greenlands Investment his brother, (Pty.) Ltd. Was co-founder with his David, of Kinemas Ltd., which pioneered talking films in South Africa. Director of African Consolidated Theatres and Films, Ltd.; Chairman and Joint Managing Director, General Chemical Corporation, Ltd.; was President of the Pietermaritzburg Hebrew Congregation in 1917, and a Council member of Johannesburg's United Hebrew Congregation, 1945-6.
