College, Kimberley. Was Director of: Anglo-Africa Trust Ltd., Tavistock Coal Mines. Ltd., South Witbank Coal Mines Ltd., Dage Properties (Pty.) Ltd. Was Chairman and co-Founder, with brother, Sydney, of Kinemas Ltd., which pioneered talking films in South Africa. Director, African Consolidated Theatres and Films, Ltd., and General Chemical Corporation. Former Treasurer, Johannesburg Jewish Guild. Executive member, S.A. Jewish Board of Deputies, for many years; Chairman, General Purposes Committee, 1937; Vice-President, 1946-47; Trustee of the Board's Endowment Fund. Member of the Internal Management Committee, Great Synagogue, Johannesburg, and member of Executive Committee, United Hebrew Congregation, 1960-64; Treasurer, Great Synagogue, 1962-64. Member, Transvaal Automobile and Killarney Golf Clubs. Married Gertie Schocot, 1941; one daughter.
