FROMAN, Philip. M.P.S. (London) J.P. Chemist and Druggist. Born Johannesburg 19th February, 1904, son of Jacob Hillel and Erla Froman. Educated in Johannesburg and at London College of Pharmacy, England. Owner of Froman's Pharmacy, Johannesburg. Vice-President, S.A. Board of Jewish Education, and Chairman, Institutions of Board of Education, 1938-1964. Founder and first Chairman, King David School, Trustee, Teachers' and Ministers' Pension Fund. Member of Country Communities Committee of S.A. Jewish Board of Deputies. Was Vice-President Witbank Hebrew Congregation. Was President of Witbank Zionist Society from 1926-34 and Chevra Kadisha. Appointed by the S.A. Board of Jewish Education a Hon. Life Vice-President for work accomplished by him for the Board. Married Kate Sless, 1934; two sons. Recreations: Reading, swimming.
