GECELTER, Louis. Secretary. Born Kovno, Lithuania, 1st September, 1919, son of Isaac Solomon and Sonia Gecelter. Educated in Lithuania. Came to South Africa 1937. Secretary-Manager of the Johannesburg Jewish Guild. Past President of the Jewish Guild, 1954-57. Chairman, Southern Transvaal Maccabi, 1961-63, and a Committee member since 1949. Vice-Chairman, National Maccabi, 1962-65. Hon. Life member of the Jewish Guild, and one of the founders of the Jewish Guild Country Club. Hon. President, Transvaal Table Tennis Association; Chairman, 1952- 53 and 1964, now Vice-Chairman. Represented Transvaal at Table Tennis; was Table Tennis and Tennis Manager at the 1957 Maccabiah in Israel; Tennis Manager, 1961 Maccabiah; managed Israeli Table Tennis team in 1954, French Table Tennis team in 1962, managed former World Table Tennis Champion Victor Barna in 1959. Served with the South African Air Force in World War II. Married Mennie Leah Shrog, 1942; one son, one daughter. one daughter. Recreations: Tennis and bowls.
