BROOK, Hessel. Manufacturer. Born Lithuania. Son of Solomon and Sarah Brook. Arrived in South Africa 1930. Educated at Rabbinical Colleges Telz and Slabodka in Lithuania, and Hebron in Israel, and received Smichas Rabbonus from the Dean of Hebron Yeshiva and other noted Rabbis. Owner and founder of Brook Engineering Works. Past Warden, Vice-Chairman and President of Emmarentia Hebrew Congregation. Council member, Federation of Synagogues. Delegate to S.A. Jewish Board of Deputies. Contributor to Hebrew Journals here and in Israel on Halachic subjects. Married Doris Schomberg. Three sons, eldest settled in Israel.
