CHAITOWITZ, Rev. Jacob. Minister of Religion. Born in Rokiskis, Lithuania, 3rd August, 1903. Educated at the Yeshiva Meah Shearim in Jerusalem. Came to South Africa in 1930. Minister to the Valley-Observatory Hebrew Congregation, Johannesburg since 1947. Formerly Minister to the Boksburg North Hebrew Congregation (1931-1947). Hon. Secretary to the Cantors' and Choirmasters' Association; Council member of the S.A. Jewish Ministers' Association. Married Miriam Friedman, 29th May, 1920; three sons, one daughter.
