DAVIDS, Solomon. Proprietor of Sol Davids. Born in Ficksburg, O.F.S., 6th July, 1915, son of Benjamin and Olga Davidowitz. Educated at Ficksburg High School. Member, Rotary International, Krugersdorp Club, representing Retail Furniture Association. Vice President, Krugersdorp Municipality Publicity Association; Past President, Krugersdorp Chamber of Commerce (Southern Transvaal Region), 1961-62, and currently a member of the Executive: Executive member. West Rand Festival of Arts; formerly President of Bloemfontein Young Israel Society, and Vice-President, O.F.S. Zionist Youth Council; also played leading part in Zionist Youth while living in Salisbury, and later headed Habonim on the West Rand. Executive member, Kadimah Country Club (Chairman of Tennis Section). During World War II was a member of First Contingent in the British Empire to go Up North to East Africa in September, 1939. Married Pearl Dogon in 1947; two sons, one daughter. Recreations: Tennis, bowls. Add.: 12, Piet Joubert Avenue, Krugersdorp, and P.O. Box 37, Luipaardsvlei.
