Was Chairman of the Labour Party, Bloemfontein, for 25 years; subsequently settled in Cape Town; was Commissioner of Oaths; Life Committee member and Chairman of Relief Committee, Cape Jewish Board of Guardians; Chairman of After-Care Committee, Cape Jewish Orphanage; Life Vice-President, Cape Jewish Aged Home; Chairman, Cape Jewish Sick Relief Society; Chairman, Green and Sea Point Chevra Kadisha; President, Bloemfontein Homing Society. Married 1906; wife's name, Rachel Leah; four sons.
