BERNFIELD, Derek Nathaniel. B.Sc. (Land Surveying). Land Surveyor. Born London, England, 16th January, 1925, son of Hyman and Helen Bernfield. Came to South Africa 1928. Educated at South African College School and University of Cape Town. Is also a pianist and song writer, composer of "Pickin' a Chicken" (Eve Boswell song hit). Has own orchestra and has performed in several broadcast programmes. Married Jane Wohlmann 27th July, 1958; one son, one daughter. Recreation: Music.
