Veteran Bloemfontein communal leader, Was Chairman for twenty-five years of the O.F.S. Committee of the S.A. Jewish Board of Deputies, and O.F.S. Vice President of the Board. Also plays a prominent part in Zionist work. Has led campaigns for the I.U.A. and U.C.F. in the O.F.S. and especially played a key role in the S.A. Jewish War Appeal in the Orange Free State from its inception during World War II until it became the South African Jewish Appeal in post-war years. President, United Hebrew Institutions of Bloemfontein. Vice-President, Federation of Synagogues of the Transvaal, O.F.S. and Natal. Past President, O.F.S. Chamber of Commerce. Past President, Bloemfontein Lodge of the Hebrew Order of David. Past President, Bloemfontein Jewish Guild. Also played a leading part in Freemasonry. Past Master of Thistle Lodge.
